LATEX Command

LATEX Command

20201004 The traditional command to transform your LATEX documet into a PDF document

$ pdflatex mydoc

XeLaTeX, introduced in the 2000's, supports left to right and right to left languages (Unicode/UTF8), as well as new font formats, including TrueType and OpenType fonts:

$ xelatex mydoc

LuaLaTeX is in some views a successor to XeLaTeX, supporting UTF8, modern font handling, and dynamic memory support (to avoid the TeX capacity exceeded, sorry message). It also supports the Lua scripting language to extend TeX with Lua macro capabilities:

$ lualatex mydoc

Tectonic is the latest iteation:

$ ~/.cargo/bin/textonic mydoc.tex
