GNU/Linux Desktop Survival Guide

20190122 This chapter brings together a number of security related topics. With today's rather aggressive attempts to diminish our personal privacy it is more important than ever to secure our systems. Even so called professionally run computer systems have apparently been easily hacked, such as 500 million of Marriot users data (announced in September 2018) and the Equifax breech (September 2017) that exposed sensitive personal information of 150 Million US citizens, the full impact of which we still wait to see. We must take our own measures to protect our privacy and be conscious of the need to do so and the need to limit the data we are sharing with other organisations that clearly have too little regard for our privacy.
