Workflow Shared Repository

Review the information from:

Creating local branch for every feature/bug is good practice. Here we create a branch called dev:

$ git checkout -b dev

$ git branch

This will list the branches.

$ git push origin dev

This will register the branch with the remote repository, which is optional.

Now we would do some coding and committing:

$ git commit -a -m "Improve messaging."

When we are ready to merge back into master and delete the branch:

$ git checkout master
$ git merge dev
$ git mergetool

Deal with conflicts as apparopiate.

$ git branch -D dev

This will delete the branch.

$ git push origin :dev

This will delete the branch from the remote repository.
