12.2 File 01_intro.Rmd

20210228

Files are processed in the order they a found from a listing of all Rmd files in the current directory. By convention index.Rmd is usually the first file (usually the Preface) and is provided as the parameter to the function that merges the other Rmd files in order.

A simple mechanism is thus to use the chapter numbers to prefix the filenames. The first chapter, often the Introduction, might be named 01_intro.Rmd

# Introduction

The html filename is generated from the chapter title as _book/instroduction.html.

If a reference is provided then the html filename is the reference, so in the following it becomes _book/intro.html:

# Introduction {#intro}
