60.33 No-IP Own Domain

20110724

If you have your own domain (like togaware.com.au) registered then you may like to have it point to your own computer. To do so is quite straightforward but may rely on signing up for a service from your Dynamic DNS provider. For example, No-IP offers an inexpensive service called No-IP Plus Domains for domain.

To make use of such a service we simply need to modify our domain name registration (at the particular registrar with whom we registered the domain name). The only modification required is to identify the appropriate name servers, like ns1.no-ip.com.

We can then set up our own systems to have our domain name synchronised with our home IP address.
