25.9 IntelliJ Final Newline

20210312

Many editors will ensure that there is a newline (linefeed) at the end of a file on saving the file, as is expected by many tools and when processing a file. This ensures a common standard for the end of a file and when two files are being concatenated, for example, the second file always starts on a newline.

IntelliJ defaults to not checking for the final newline. To have IntelliJ add a newline on saving a file, if required, we change a setting:

Settings -> Editor -> General -> Ensure line feed at file end on Save
