Sample commands to get the IPv4 address of a domain host name:

$ ping -c1 togaware.com | awk '/^PING/{print $3}' | tr -d '()'
207.38.86.6
$ dig togaware.com | awk '/ANSWER SECTION/{getline; print $5}'
207.38.86.6
$ host togaware.com | awk '/has address/{print $4}'
207.38.86.6
$ nslookup togaware.com | awk '/Address: /{print $2}' | grep -v ':'
207.38.86.6
