As per Wikipedia: GrapheneOS (formerly Android Hardening or AndroidHardening) is an Android-based, open source, privacy and security-focused mobile operating system for selected Google Pixel smartphones.

Our focus on the need for privacy (see Section 79.2) is increasingly recognised as an issue for society. More people are gravitating to privacy preserving platforms. The /e/ Foundation covered in Section ?? is one example of a developing Android distribution which is disentangled from Google.

GrapheneOS is said to be focussed on security and privacy but loses functionality over Pixel.
